M3: STAFF HOUSE
The third structure (diameter 4m) is built to test a living unit for the long term staff on site. similar to the previous structures, we will now deepen research on UV protection, orientation and water protecting layer

ROAD WORK
In April and May, the main axes of the property were connected by a road, and the soil was compacted and developed (towards Gates 1 and 2). To save costs, a small business is being set up so that the stones can be quarried and crushed on site. This will minimize transport costs for gravel.

M2: GUARD HOUSE
With reclining rains we focused on construction again and finished a guard house (with only 2m diameter, the smallest unit of the reinterpretation of the manyatta); elevated to almost one meter above the ground, the guards now have the best overview on site.

SOIL BLOCK PRODUCTION
After a lot of testing, we managed to get the right soil from a neighboring village and started block production. with a capacity of about 500 blocks per day, the construction team is slowly getting into the rythm ; Patrick is there for quality control.

WATER RETENTION MEASURES
Different types of water retention measures were tested before the rains started in late March/early April. A two-day visit from an excavator helped to dig a 15x50m water pan; we continued by hand with a series of 20 half-moon circles to capture the water run-offs for the newly planted trees.

M1: RECEPTION /MEETING HALL / PRAYER ROOM
We are testing the first structure on site. The base structure is welded with easy to get reinforcment bars. Kiangozi, the welder in Turbi likes working night time to focus. after a few adjustments, the ladies weaving group can start experimenting with hemp, sisal and jute ropes , different knotting techniques. and some color, window details.

DRIPS + CROPS
First agricultural units to start drip- irrigated food crops in December 2025, preparing land for rain irrigated test plots in March 2026... time to test spacings, net materials for shade and wind protection etc.

WEATHER STATION NO 2
The second weather station, a state-of-the-art installation, has recently been set up in North Horr, strategically positioned to enhance the collection of meteorological data. This new station is located at the Desert Stars Hub, which is situated just outside of Turbi Town. On November 5, 2025, we launched the project on-site—a day that marked the beginning of an exciting journey filled with creativity and collaboration. WATER BORE HOLE DRILLING
The water is transported by motorbike from a catchment basin 7 km away. The transport costs are therefore higher than the cost of the water itself, and if there is no rain for a long time, the water evaporates, which can lead to disputes over who gets the water. In mid-November, the NGO ‘Drilling for Life’ facilitated the drilling of a new borehole, approximately 350 metres (!!) deep, located 7 kilometres south of Turbi. The flow rate is 12 m³/h.
