Diversity is not a challenge to be overcome, but a valuable reality that can be actively shaped .
It is our foundation for a forward-looking coexistence, a window seat to innovative visions, and our common heritage for the next generations to live in peace .
Aenki eV
Rooted in culture. Built for resilience.
Aenki eV is a non-profit association committed to sustainable construction in regions particularly affected by climate change. It focuses on initiatives and construction projects that combine local traditions and cultural knowledge with innovative approaches. Aenki brings together experienced craftspeople and traditional knowledge holders with young people and bright minds to jointly develop new approaches to sustainable construction – resource-efficient, climate-friendly, and socially effective.
We are
The association was founded by experts from the fields of architectural culture, art, politics, and international development cooperation. It was initiated by Julia Mauser, who has been working on international architectural projects for 20 years. Most recently, she spent many years in Ethiopia, was involved in World Bank infrastructure projects for over a decade, and worked as an architect on various continents.

We promote
Aenki eV promotes future-oriented construction at the interface of craftsmanship, material innovation and cultural knowledge.
Sustainable solutions often lie in traditional building cultures that receive little attention today. Our goal is to preserve and further develop these cultural practices and connect them with today's requirements – together with local partners and international networks .
The world needs new ideas for construction.
We promote:
-
the development of concepts that promote social change, creative practices or technological innovations,
-
the identification and support of committed individuals who open up new areas of thought and action,
-
the testing and implementation of prototypes in order to make ideas visible at an early stage and to develop them further.
Whether in the form of workshops, collaborative processes or other experimental formats – Aenki eV creates spaces and resources so that visionary projects can not only be conceived but also realized.
We offer volunteer work placements lasting between 1-3 months. In 2025/26, we offer construction with mud blocks and rammed earth in the midst of a world dominated by herders and nomadic tribes in northern Kenya.
