Focus

We focus on regions that face particular challenges due to extreme climatic conditions such as heat waves, droughts or floods.

We analyze local needs, research global developments, and promote modular architectural solutions that can be adapted and shared regionally.
Today, we are learning from innovative water supply solutions in the Chalbi Desert in Kenya, with the potential to apply this know-how to European cities. Similar to acupuncture, there are specific regions on Earth without which the entire ecosystem cannot function.

We want to create closer links between international expertise and local populations across cultures.

Our goals

Promoting climate resilience

Wir unterstützen Bauprojekte in Regionen, die von extremen klimatischen Bedingungen besonders betroffen sind.

SDG 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities" This explicitly aims to strengthen the resilience of settlements to disasters, including climate-related extreme events.

SDG 13 "Climate Action" Addressing the impacts of climate change and promoting adaptation

Tradition and innovation

Wir verknüpfen traditionelles Bauwissen mit neu gedachten Materialien und Techniken an Hand von gezielt ausgesuchten Projekten /Prototypen.

SDG 9 "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" Supporting sustainable and resilient infrastructure in developing countries through knowledge transfer, technology, and financing, as well as innovation in building materials (e.g., new, sustainable materials), is a key component of this goal.

SDG 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities" Inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements. Traditional and innovative building materials contribute to local value creation, reducing the ecological footprint, and increasing the resilience of buildings.

Strengthening community

Wir stärken kulturelle Identitäten,  sammeln und teilen Know-how, organisieren Nachbarschafts-initiativen, und setzen gezielte Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der Lebensqualität um.

SDG 4 "Quality Education" Goal: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

SDG 16 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions Goal: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, ensure access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

We support construction projects in regions particularly affected by extreme climatic conditions.

We combine traditional building knowledge with newly conceived materials and techniques using carefully selected projects/prototypes.

We strengthen cultural identities, collect and share know-how, organize neighborhood initiatives, and implement targeted measures to improve the quality of life.

We promote:

  • the development of concepts that promote social change, creative practices or technological innovations,

  • the identification and support of committed individuals who open up new areas of thought and action,

  • the testing and implementation of prototypes in order to make ideas visible at an early stage and to develop them further.

Whether in the form of workshops, collaborative processes or other experimental formats – Aenki eV creates spaces and resources so that visionary projects can not only be conceived but also realized.

Challenges

A warmer atmosphere stores more energy and moisture, causing extreme weather events to occur more frequently and more rapidly. These events are often limited to microregions, so we must prepare for heavier rainfall, short-term flooding, and longer periods without rain.

What the diagram above really shows is that we and our future are globally connected. We notice this, for example, when desert sand from North Africa or soot particles from Canadian forest fires land in the Bavarian Alpine foothills. At the same time, there are certain regions around the world that have a particularly strong impact on a positive, stable climate. This is where we want to start!
